Next week will take place the second edition of the swimming crossing between Europe and Asia, the Rhodes-Marmaris by Neda el Món & ZOGGS, with four groups of nedaddictes. A total of 17 swimmers of various nationalities: Russian, Turkish, Spanish, English, Dutch, Brazilian, and Irish.

The challenge consists of crossing the strait that separates the island of Rhodes, in Greece, from Marmaris, a coastal region in Turkey, with a distance of almost 17 kilometers.
The Neda el Món team has undergone intense preparation and is waiting for the ideal moment to begin the crossing, depending on the weather and sea conditions. Our nedaddictes are ready to face this challenge!

This crossing, apart from being a sporting challenge, has significant symbolism, as it connects two continents that have shared centuries of history and culture. You can find all the info here.

Total Swim Addiction in Sardinia

10/1/2024

playa marmorata

The trip to Sardinia has been a resounding success this year, especially with the two SwimHolidays experiences in the La Maddalena archipelago. During these days, participants had the opportunity to explore numerous unexplored corners of these islands, diving into their crystal-clear waters and enjoying unique marine landscapes. These swims allowed participants not only to appreciate the natural beauty of Sardinia, but also to create a close and exclusive experience for our swimmers, establishing the program as a reference in aquatic tourism.

Success was also evident in the two crossings of the Bonifacio Strait, where all swimmers achieved their goal. The perfect coordination and meticulous preparation of these events ensured a memorable experience, further enhancing the reputation of our events as an ideal combination of adventure and sport in an unparalleled natural environment.

Finally, we are filled with enthusiasm as we look to the future, eager to repeat and improve this experience next year. The results achieved in 2023 encourage us to continue innovating and offering new opportunities to discover Sardinia from the water. With such positive feedback from participants and the success of the activities, we are confident that the Nedaddictes will continue to grow and solidify alongside us to experience something truly unforgettable.

The Bonifacio Crossing 2024: a record-breaking edition with Neda el Món

9/28/2024

jhji

This edition not only met but exceeded all expectations, thanks to the perfect combination of weather conditions and the dedication and experience of the swimmers.
Within the available time window, Monday, September 23, was identified as the ideal day for the crossing. The forecasts predicted unbeatable conditions, which allowed us to map out a new route that shortened the distance compared to previous editions. These two factors, combined with the skill and preparation of our pilots, were key to our nedaddictes achieving incredible feats, breaking all previously established records in the crossing of this legendary strait.

The Sharks team, composed of Jorge Pérez, Danila Novikov, and Ferran Fernández, delivered a stellar performance, completing the crossing in an impressive time of 3 hours and 10 minutes, breaking the absolute record of the crossing. Not far behind, the Dolphins team, consisting of Fernando Pruñonosa, Pedro Travesset, Belinda McGinley, Eric Danion, and Lucas Carrascosa, recorded an excellent time of 3 hours and 30 minutes, also breaking all previous times, leaving Belinda as the new record holder for the Bonifacio Strait.

Meanwhile, the Berlin team, made up of Boris Najafov, Stefan Silberbeg, and Leonie Rammelsberg, broke a different record: the shortest distance covered. Thanks to flawless execution, they managed to swim the shortest route between Corsica and Sardinia, with 12.1 km in 4 hours and 21 minutes. An outstanding achievement that highlights the importance of strategy in such events.

Also noteworthy was the impressive performance of Sinem Serinkan, the Turkish representative who crossed the Bonifacio Strait solo, completing the crossing in 5 hours and 24 minutes. This challenge was not only a personal victory for her, but it also filled her with motivation for her next goal: the crossing between Rodas and Marmaris in just two weeks. Her achievement highlights the toughness and emotional reward of open water swimming at an individual level, where determination is key.

The event concluded with a celebration shared between swimmers and staff, united by their effort and passion for the sea, celebrating the success they had achieved. The happiness and pride on their faces were palpable, reflecting the spirit of perseverance and camaraderie that characterizes these types of crossings.

Now, all eyes are on the second crossing, which will take place soon, featuring the experienced French swimmer Marie-Pierre and our CEO, Marc Caballé, who is looking to improve on his performance from last year.

The Bonifacio Crossing 2024 has been an extraordinary event, pushing swimmers to their limits and offering an unforgettable experience full of challenges. For all those who are part of the open water swimming community, such events represent not only a physical challenge but also an opportunity to deeply connect with nature and oneself.

Discover the magic of SwimHolidays in Madalena: an unforgettable open water experience

9/26/2024

kjwencj we

The first SwimHolidays in Madalena have been a true adventure for open water swimming enthusiasts, leaving us with incredible memories and unforgettable moments. This innovative vacation concept combines the pleasure of swimming in crystal-clear seas with exploring some of the most beautiful and authentic Mediterranean destinations.

The experience began with a visit to Castelsardo, a charming coastal town in Sardinia crowned by an ancient fortress. We enjoyed a scenic tour that ended with a swim to a pier, where we were able to savor an unforgettable sunset.

The second day was dedicated to exploring the spectacular islands of La Maddalena, a paradise for swimmers who love open water. Surrounded by calm, turquoise waters, we swam along its extensive shores and later immersed ourselves in the history and atmosphere of the city of Maddalena. Each stroke brought us closer to the essence of these pristine islands, where nature is in its purest form.

But the adventure didn't stop there. We headed to the island of Lavezzi, located off the coast of Corsica. This marine sanctuary is known for its crystal-clear waters and protected marine life.

The crowning moment of our SwimHolidays came with an exciting challenge: the crossing between the island of Spargiotto and the large island of Sardinia, a 4.5 km journey in open waters. This crossing was not only a physical achievement but also a unique experience of connection with the vastness of the sea. It served as the perfect training for the great challenge to come: the crossing of the Strait of Bonifacio, a legendary swim that tests the endurance and adventurous spirit of any swimmer.

This Thursday, September 19th, Neda el Món embarks on an exciting journey to the spectacular island of Sardinia, where two Swim Holidays will take place, designed to make the most of the wonders of this Mediterranean paradise. Focusing on the crystal-clear waters surrounding the island, this trip promises to be an unforgettable experience for swimmers and sea lovers.

However, the adventure doesn’t end there: along the way, we will make a special stop to take on the challenge of the Strait of Bonifacio, which separates the islands of Corsica and Sardinia. This crossing, known for its complexity and beauty, will be the highlight of the trip.

Four groups of swimmers have been training hard throughout the season, preparing to cross this challenging strait. The combination of crystal-clear waters, stunning landscapes, and collective effort ensures that this will be one of the most exciting adventures of the year.

Safety Tips for Open Water Swimming, by Zoggs

9/12/2024

zoggs

Open water swimming is an excellent way to connect with nature while taking care of your health. Despite the benefits of this sport, not many people practice it regularly. With the help of Zoggs, experts in sports equipment, we offer you some key tips to enjoy this activity safely.

1. Know yourself and your abilities

It’s essential to be aware of your limits regarding distance, swim time, and cold tolerance. Plan your training carefully, check the weather and sea conditions before diving in. A wetsuit will help you withstand lower temperatures and stay afloat more easily.

2. Choose a safe spot

Always swim in designated areas where boat traffic is prohibited. Ideally, swim with a buddy; if you can’t, make sure to inform someone about your location and carry a GPS to share your position in real-time. You can also join swimming communities like Neda el Món to find companions to share the experience.

3. Equip yourself properly

A swim buoy is an essential element for open water swimming. It not only makes you more visible to others but also provides a floating support in case of fatigue. You can also use it as a small backpack to carry spare goggles, your mobile phone, water, or snacks.

4. Feel comfortable and safe

Using the right gear is key to enjoying the sea. Make sure everything you use, from your wetsuit to your accessories, is comfortable and suited to your needs. Bright colors in your equipment will help you be seen from a distance, increasing your safety.

In summary, prepare well, equip yourself correctly, and enjoy the experience of open water swimming with the peace of mind that you’re following the right advice. In our store, you'll find everything you require for this adventure, thanks to our partner Zoggs.

Success of the 5 groups of Neda el Mundo in Gibraltar

victòria grup 3

The team formed by the Spanish Juan Miguel Lopez, the Lithuanian Justas Narkevicius, the Ukrainian Sergii Matus and the Russian Maxim Pichugin has reached the Strait of Gibraltar in 5.00 hours, covering a distance of 16.1 km. In this crossing, the currents were not favorable. They only helped the swimmers for 5 km. Everything they swam to reach the breakwater of Playa Dalia was the result of their training and effort. Accompanied by great coordination and great team spirit.
¡Congratulations guys!

With this group we close a 5 out of 5 in Gibraltar, with 5 groups of 4 swimmers who have successfully crossed the Strait of Gibraltar this year with the Neda al món method.
Thanks to ACNEG and its members for their dedication and professionalism.

Excellent coordination of team 2 to reach the Strait of Gibraltar

On September 3, 2024, the group formed by Yaroslav Romashko, Albert Samper, Javier Santos and Raul Torres achieved the Strait of Gibraltar in 3h 47 minutes, covering a distance of 15.2 km. A team that swam from the first moment coordinated, demonstrating the excellent preparation of each of the members and the great rapport between them, and all surrounded by dolphins at all times!

The day accompanied and the magnificent conditions allowed the swimmers to maintain a constant pace of 4 km / h, thus reaching Punta Cires, on the coast of Morocco. Congratulations, Group 2 for this milestone!

Congratulations to the whole @gibraltarswimming team and @nedaelmon for another success.

Crossings of the Strait of Gibraltar start successfully

9/3/2024

Win on the Strait

Resounding success in the first crossing of the Strait of Gibraltar on September 2nd, 2024.
With a time of 4 hours, the first group of this September has done an exceptional job.

Roman Domin, Angelina Lypinska, Artem Panchenko and Núria Soriano needed 15.3 km to reach Morocco, specifically Punta Cires, taking advantage of the good currents and despite a rough sea in several sections of the route.
A crossing that was helped by the rain on Sunday, and that today it was clearing to let our swimmers see the marvel of biodiversity that these waters of the Strait of Gibraltar have.

Another perfect achievement and thanks to the organization of @gibraltarswimming and @Nedaelmon.
Congratulations Equip!!!

Two other groups are still waiting to find their moment to jump into the water.

About the sea temperature in Medes

5/1/2024

medes

The sea temperature on the Costa Brava is currently 15ºC. And the forecast is that by the weekend of May 5 it will rise to a maximum of 16ºC. Taking into account this scenario, we have obviously asked ourselves questions. And we've taken those questions to the experts. Can we normally organise the 15th Neda el Món Illes Medes per la Marató de TV3 by ZOGGS normally?

The unanimous answer was yes, but with some recommendations for swimmers:

  • Only those who are very, very adapted to swimming in cold water can do so without wetsuit.
  • As a general rule, everyone should wear wetsuits to avoid being exposed to cold water for too long time.
  • It is also recommended to use neoprene gloves, socks and even swimcap for those who suffer the most from the cold.
  • You need to keep calm when entering to the water. The feet, hands and, above all, the head will suffer from the cold at the initial moment. You need to relax, not get overwhelmed and keep swimming calmly because this feeling will go away in 3 or 4 minutes. Then you can even enjoy the cold water.

These recommendations will allow you to swim all distances without any problems, including 5.1k. If you feel more comfortable with shorter distances anyway, no problem if you want to switch to shorter distances. Just ask us at info@nedaelmon.com and we will proceed with the change.

Freesowl, a new way to explore seas, rivers and lakes

3/18/2024

manresa

Our swimaddict James Manresa introduces Freesowl, bringing a new way to explore the coasts of seas, rivers, and lakes by swimming self-sufficiently.

The backpack, eco-designed and produced with materials partly recovered from the oceans, can carry everything needed for multi-day excursions, alternating between swimming and walking as desired. The experience can be personalized with accessories such as solar panels to recharge electronic devices, a multi-support pole to carry a camera, or even pockets to store trash collected from the sea, among others.

"In 2009, I felt the need to travel along a coast swimming, similar to how hikers walk in the mountains, but there was no backpack to do it, so I built one myself," explains James Manresa. "I tested the new prototype by exploring Cap de Creus and sections of the Ebre River, among others, and it went so well that I felt it was time to share it."

Freesowl is generating a lot of interest among swimmers, travellers, adventurers, and sports enthusiasts in general. This has led the creator to fund the launch of limited first units at special prices through a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter from March 12th to April 12th.

Freesowling represents a new milestone in the rise of sustainable activities in open waters, allowing users to enjoy an unprecedented playful and immersive experience with the awareness that a portion of the profits will be dedicated to cleaning plastics from rivers and seas.

Medes 2022: the most cheritable and... the most sustainable!

2/23/2024

sostenible

From the beginning, in 2010, the Neda el Món Illes Medes per la Marató de TV3 by ZOGGS has been the only popular 100% charitable crossing in Catalonia.  From now on, the 2022 edition, we want it to be the most sustainable too, from environmental point of view. And we want it to be sustainable in 1) mobility and 2) waste management:

  1. Sustainable mobility, using motorized vehicles on land as few as possible, encouraging public transport, optimizing the motorized vehicles and promoting non-motorized transport: walking, cycling, using skateboards…
  2. Sustainable waste management, recycling plastics, paper and organics. At the departure area and the arrival area you will find yellow containers for the plastic packaging and cups, blue containers for paper, and brown containers for organics. At the food and drink supply during the crossing, all swimmers will get a recyclable cup which they must use so the Neda el Món staff will refill it each time. Swimmers must keep that cup.

Obviously, in order to achieve the most sustainable possible event, we need the collaboration of all swim addicts. Altogether we will do it!
