Maldives crossing
And now Neda el Món lands in Maldives! This tropical paradise, known for its crystal clear waters and over-water bungalows, is a destination that captivates travelers and now also swimmers from all over the world. The Maldives hides charming local islands, bustling markets and a rich culture that deserves to be discovered. Neda el Món proposes a 17k crossing from Paradise Island to Kuda Villingili Island.

As in the Strait of Gibraltar, Neda el Món makes available to the swimmer all its knowledge about the great challenges in open water and is responsible for informing and advising the swimmer, planning the training 6 months in advance and monitoring these trainings, including one in-person session per month in Barcelona.

The total cost is €1,480, including all previous training camps. The SOLO version, to do the crossing alone, has an additional cost of €500.

When and where do swimmers need to be in the Maldives?

Swimmers need to be in Paradise Island (Maldives) on June 29th and cannot leave the island until July 4th. The airport to arrive is Male (Maldives). Villa Nautica Resort staff will take you by speedboat from the airport to the accommodation.

Accommodation

Swimmers must make a reservation from June 29th to July 4th at the only accommodation on Paradise Island, the Villa Nautica Resort. You can use the discount code to come from Neda el Món. Reservations and information here.

Challenge methodology

Among the 24 swimmers registered for the challenge, Neda el Món will make, based on their speeds and their fitness during the face-to-face trainings in Barcelona, 6 groups of 4, 5 or 6 swimmers with the same swimming level and who will swim together during the challenge. Exactly the same methodology Neda el Món use to make the groups to cross the Strait of Gibraltar.

What day will we cross?

The first day available to swim will be June 30. Neda el Món will decide based on the wind, wave and current forecast which day of the week the challenge will be attempted. A daily group training session of 2k swim will be organized in the days leading up to the crossing.

Boarding

On the day of the crossing, the swimmers will all be embarked at the port of Villa Nautica (Paradise Island), just half an hour before the challenge begins. Neda el Món will also decide the departure time based on the weather forecast.

Direction and starting point

The crossing will normally start at Paradise Island towards Kuda Villingili Island, but it can be modified depending on the forecast of winds and currents. Every 45 minutes there will be a quick stop (1 minute) for feeding.
