Strait of Bonifacio crossing
As the Strait of Gibraltar, the Strait of Bonifacio has become one of the great challenges for open water swimmers in recent years. And now you can choose between single crossing (12k) or round trip (24k).

And as with the Strait of Gibraltar, Neda el Món makes available to the swimmer all his knowledge about the great challenges in open water and it will be responsible for everything: informing and advising the swimmer, training planning 6 months before the challenge and the follow-up of these trainings, including one face-to-face session per month in Barcelona.

The total cost is €1,480 for the single crossing and €1,780 for the round trip, including all previous training camps. The SOLO version, to do the crossing alone, has an additional cost of €500.

When and where do swimmers need to be in Sardinia?

Swimmers must be in Santa Teresa di Gallura (Sardinia) on September 14 and cannot leave Santa Teresa di Gallura (Sardinia) until September 19. The nearest airport is Olbia - Costa Smeralda (OLB, Italy). From Olbia Airport to Santa Teresa di Gallura it is 1 hour and 12 minutes by car. It is highly recommended to rent a car on the island of Sardinia. The same journey by public transport is 2 hours and 10 minutes.

Accommodation

Swimmers must make a reservation from September 14 to September 19 in Santa Teresa di Gallura (Sardinia). There are many hotels and apartments in Santa Teresa di Gallura. You can search on booking.com or airbnb.com.

Challenge methodology

Among the 24 swimmers registered for the challenge, Neda el Món will make, based on their speeds and their fitness during the face-to-face trainings in Barcelona, 6 groups of 4, 5 or 6 swimmers with the same swimming level and who will swim together during the challenge. Exactly the same methodology Neda el Món use to make the groups to cross the Strait of Gibraltar.

What day will we cross?

The first day available to swim will be September 15. Neda el Món will decide based on the forecast of wind, waves and currents which day of the week you will try to reach the challenge. The day of the single crossing and the round trip may not be the same. A daily group training session of 2k swim will be organized in the days leading up to the crossing in Lo Squalo Bianco, Conca Verde.

Boarding

On the day of the crossing, the swimmers will all be embarked in the port of Conca Verde (Sardinia), just one hour before the start of the challenge. Neda el Món will also decide the departure time based on the weather forecast.

Direction and starting point

The 12k crossing will normally be Corsica - Sardinia and the departure point in Corsica will depend on the current on the day of the crossing, which will be checked by the Neda el Món team. If the currents come from the East, the departure will be on the East coast of Corsica. If the currents come from the West, the departure will be on the West coast of Corsica. The round trip (24k) will normally be Sardinia - Corsica - Sardinia. Every 45 minutes there will be a quick stop (1 minute) for feeding.
